Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

- Hello. I am no expert in Beglian or French copyright law. I took the picture which shows a street scenery in Brussels. That´s all to me. As far as I am concerned, everybody is allowed to use the picture. In case it needs the license of someone else (which is simply beyond my knowledge) I must admit that it´s missing. Hallo Matthias! Wegen dem Wolf könnte es passieren, dass das Logo früher oder später hier wieder gelöscht wird. Sollte das passieren, kann man es problemlos nach de-WP retten. Hallo Chaddy, schön von Dir zu hören. Mit dem Logo ist das so: Die Datei habe ich selbst angelegt und mit einem sehr einfachen Grafikprogramm hergestellt. Es ist kein Scan o.ä. Es ist eher eine annähernde Wiedergabe des damaligen Logos. Ich habe mich dabei einfach von dem damaligen Team-Logo inspirieren lassen. - Das kann man so sehen; anderseits könnte ich dem entgegenhalten, dass es lediglich eine Impression des Logos ist, bei der nur das generelle Layout, aber nicht alle Details übernommen wurden... Klar, das ist haarspalterisch und führt letztlichnicht weiter. - Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
- State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
- If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
- Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
- Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.
If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.
It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.
You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.

Alvis TA14 JTV 600[edit]
Hi Mathias. I'm writing about the attribution of a particular car to a coach builder, Scotney. It gives me much pleasure to see contributors providing this kind of categorising. I wanted to add a year of manufacture and tried a Google search. It looks as if that particular body was by Jensen. What I would like us to do until a photo of an undisputed Scotney body turns up is categorise your images as Jensen but leave them also in Scotney. Do you think that would be a mistake?
It seems the car in your photographs may have been made by Jensen though chassis were sent to Scotney at the same time. Here are some of the online items about that particular car:

- chat, Jensen Owners Club note FAK 707's body was by Gaze : - )
I think a lot of wooden station wagons were built in the 1940s because there was a shortage of steel.

- Hallo Eddaido. Thanks for your message. Jensen, Gaze, Scotney... it looks as if things are quite confusing as far as Alvis Woodies are concerned. First of all, I'd like to say that "my" pictures of JTV 600 were taken in Penzance, Cornwall, about eight weeks ago, in early August 2015. It's obviously the same car as shown on ebay. If the owner claims that this particular body was made by Jensen - well, I can't say very much against it (except for the fact that there was no Jensen badge at all on the car). On the other hand, the Woodie shown in the Bonham's ad which is claimed to have a Scotney body also looks similar to JTV 600 (which is also true to the "Gaze" body...)
To me it's quite likely (but not certain) that Scotney and Gaze did some subcontractors work for Jensen in the first years after WW II. This could explain why there are several similar-looking woodie bodies formally connected to different coachbuilders. But as I said - it's a theory, it's not waterproof.
The book I am relying on as far as British Coachbuilding is concerned is Nick Walker: A–Z of British Coachbuilders 1919–1960. Shebbear 2007 (Herridge & Sons Ltd.) ISBN 978-0-9549981-6-5. I will have a closer look at this book this evening or tomorrow. In case I can find new information, I will add them here. Moreover I will discuss this topic in automobile section of the German WP. Maybe there are some guys who can add their knowledge.
In the meantime, feel free to add a Jensen Category to "my" files of JTV 600.

- First I must apologise. My computer is mad and creeps around behind me to change what I have typed. I do know its Matthias, this computer prefers Mathias.
- I do know partly from having been around at the time and interested that there was a real rash of small wood workshops building station wagon bodies around 1946-1947 because there were still all the skills from making horse-drawn vehicles and because steel supply restrictions left motor manufacturers with almost complete cars that were unsaleable without a body to a very hungry marketplace. I don't think there needed to be sub-contracting, I think Scotney (my computer Hates that word too)'s half dozen cars might well have been able to find more than enough enthusiastic buyers within 10 k of their small town in Huntingdonshire. I also noticed on one of the items I gave links to above that the current body was entirely new - and one might expect that after 70 years. The replacement body looked extremely utilitarian, it seemed to be without one piece of timber shaped into a curve. Yes, I agree it can be be a mistake to place too much faith in an auctioneer's description. A local book dealer has a copy of Nick Walker's book priced at $95. A country nearby has another copy at $191. Wish I had a copy! I see Walker is / was chairman of the Alvis Owner Club.
- So I was looking at that website and found this:

Moin! Die Datei basiert auf Hamburger Hochbahn - Plan der Linie U1.png. Die Lizenz dieser Datei verpflichtet dich zur Nennung der Quelldatei und ihres Autors. Bitte ergänze diese Angaben auf der Dateibeschreibungsseite. PNG wäre bei so einer Karte übrigens das bessere Bildformat gewesen. Viele Grüße, NNW 10:28, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
