Image Tagging Image:Maktoums.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Maktoums.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. They look like copyright violations, I will nominate them for deletion so the uploader has a chance to proove he/she owns them. Hekerui (talk) 16:18, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Re: An out of topic question[edit]
Hi Vssun, I responded in the deletion discussion at the Malayalam Wiki. Regards Hekerui (talk) 16:28, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
- How I found the deletion page on the ml-Wiki? I followed the link on the image page. I don't speak Malayalam, sadly, but the basic structure of Wikis is the same in every language. Best Hekerui (talk) 22:43, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Re: Confirmation required[edit]
Hi Vssun! When you transfer files you can use the Move-to-commons assistant to generate an upload history. I saw that Surya Sivakumar had a Commons category, which I added. Dates for |Date= should be written in the form YYYY-MM-DD so they will be automatically formatted for all languages. Also, the user Aneezone has identified himself as Anees Kodiyathur in other pictures, so I added the real name. Best regards Hekerui (talk) 16:12, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Questions[edit]
Hi Vssun, I commented on the discussion about Jayabharathi.jpg and asked an admin to assist with Mala Aravindan.jpg Regards Hekerui (talk) 19:57, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for your nice comment, I may get back to you on this :) Hekerui (talk) 06:07, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- As there was no other comment since 2010-05-25 I deleted the first file. Concerning the second file I doubt that it's "own work", but yet it's just a copy of en:File:Maala2.jpg. Opening a DR wouldn't really solve the problem, the files uploaded by en:User:Nooranadu mohan on en.WP should be deleted first, i.e. en:File:Maala2.jpg and en:File:Nooranadu mohan.jpg. Please open DRs there, I'll transfuse the decision to commons, ok? axpdeHello! 09:26, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- P.S.: It'd help alot if you answer at the place the question was posted. Whenever I write on somebodies talk page, I'll watch it for the answer. It helps alot when trying to retrace your conversation ;-) axpdeHello! 09:28, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- I really dont want to delete the second file. But just want to know, whether any policy exist for sockpuppet's uploads. Thanks for your prompt action and advice. Regards.--Vssun (talk) 11:36, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- Maybe ask a Checkuser? Those are closer to the topic! axpdeHello! 21:06, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi Vssun, I'm now able to move files so I fixed the name. Please check whether the description in Malayalam needs adjustment. Can you also check File:Kaithapram.jpg? The original description got lost during the transfer to Commons. Best Hekerui (talk) 07:07, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- Its a great news. Malayalam description for that image is now intact. Plus given description to Kaithapram. Thanks.--Vssun (talk) 17:24, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
Re: Copyright of Illustrations[edit]
Do you know from what book it was taken? Because if it's redrawn from a copyrighted work, then it must be deleted. Hekerui (talk) 16:41, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Hallo Vssun, how and whereto the dancer Monalisa and the photographer should send the permission for the photo? And what exactly should be written? For me it is diffucult to find. --Durga (talk) 15:27, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
- Durga can check the notice "This file is missing evidence of permission" on File:Odissi-dancer_Monalisa_Ghosh.jpg. There the OTRS email address is linked. It also links Commons:Email templates where one can find what to send, the "Declaration of consent for all enquiries". Just make the photographer insert his/her info into this and let him/her send it to the address and all should be fine (it takes up to four weeks until the email is processed). Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 22:15, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Re: A question about copyright[edit]
Hi Vssun, if the original text is from the 9th century, then the original text is in the public domain, but this document may represent significant creative work by those who wrote it down if it involves reconstructing the text, translation, transcription, or other work beyond simply writing down the text. You noted that title page and prologue are original work. If we can prove that the rest of the text, without the intro, are only reproductions, then I think we can keep the rest. However, I can't know this because I can't read the document. Can you, by reading, tell whether the text (apart from the title page/intro) is more than a reproduction? If you think it's not, we can keep those parts. Best regards Hekerui (talk) 12:03, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

File tagging File:AnandPatwardhan.JPG[edit]
This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:AnandPatwardhan.JPG. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |
